For budget travellers, Metro Line S1 connects the airport to Nanjing South Railway Station (about 40 minutes), from where Metro Line 1 takes you directly to Sheng Tai Lu Station, 3 minutes' walk from the hotel.

History. Nanjing, capital of Jiangsu Province, blends ancient heritage as a former capital with modern innovation. It is one of China's four great ancient capitals, having served as the capital of six dynasties (Wu, Eastern Jin, Song, Qi, Liang and Chen), the early capital of the Ming Dynasty, and the capital of the Republic of China. In 2019 UNESCO designated Nanjing a City of Literature, honouring its rich literary tradition. The well-preserved Ming City Wall, more than 600 years old, still encircles much of the old city.
Geography. Nanjing is situated on the lower reaches of the Yangtze River, backed by the Purple Mountain (Zijin Shan). It is centrally located on China's high-speed rail network, only 1.5 hours from Shanghai and 3.5 hours from Beijing, making it an ideal gateway for exploring eastern China.
